Cost

Black-and-white printing: $0.10 per page (one-sided), $0.15 two-sided/duplex.
Color printing: $0.75 per page
Color printing is only available at the Brighton Campus.


Printing

MCC uses the PaperCut printing management software.

Student Printing Policy

Each semester, a student's PaperCut account starts with a $15 printing balance. Additional funds can be added throughout the semester, but do not carry over to the next semester.

No more than 10 copies can be printed at once.

No more than 50 pages can be printed at once.

Files that exceed 512,000 KB in spool size will not print. For example, PowerPoint and .pdf files with a lot of large graphics when prints are requested may exceed the available spool size.

To avoid being charged for printing a blank page, first preview your document using the Print Preview feature (from the File menu select Print Preview) to make any changes before sending it to the printer.

Printing account balances are not refundable.

Study Rooms

Study rooms are available at both the LeRoy V. Good Library on MCC's Brighton Campus as well as the Downtown Campus Learning Commons. Rooms may be reserved using our Room Reservation system, and the following procedures apply:

A valid MCC ID card is required to sign out a study room key at the Service Desk at each campus.

  • All rooms are signed out for one or two hours.
  • Rooms may be renewed, depending on availability. You must check with staff at the Circulation Desk to do so.
  • Room keys cannot leave the building.
  • Rooms cannot be left vacant during a sign-out period; If so, they may be checked out to other students.

If rooms have not been reserved, they are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Whomever has the room checked out is fully responsible for any activity that takes place inside the study room.

 

Family-Friendly Study Rooms

Our family-friendly study rooms include kid-sized furniture, computers, whiteboards, and children’s books. Family-friendly study room locations:

  • Brighton Campus: Room 2-221
  • Downtown Campus: Room 440E

Student-parents can stop by the Service Desk to check out a room key and/or a Kid Kit, or reserve their preferred study room time slot in advance.

By using a family-friendly study room at MCC, you agree to abide by the following policies:

  • Do not leave children unattended at any time. If a child is left unattended anywhere in the library, Public Safety will be called.
  • Students not accompanied by children may use the family-friendly study rooms, but they might be asked to move to another study room if the room is requested by a student parent or guardian accompanied by a child.
  • Parents or guardians are responsible for their children’s safety and behavior.
  • Library resources are not censored. Parents are responsible for monitoring what their children access, both in print and online.
  • There is a limit of up to 2 adults and 4 children in the family-friendly study rooms.
  • MCC ID is required to borrow all study rooms.
  • Room keys must stay in the library, and we will not hold the room key at the desk for any reason.
  • Please clean up after yourself and let us know at the Service Desk if there are any issues with the room that need attention.
  • Please do not leave any personal items in the room. Items left in the room will be sent to MCC’s Lost and Found.

In addition to our family-friendly study rooms, the MCC Libraries offers a variety of resources for student-parents.

 

Study Spaces

4th floor: group work and conversation is welcome, please be considerate with noise level.

3rd Floor: silent, individual study. Please take your group work and conversation to another floor. Please use earbuds for all audio.

2nd (main) floor:  group work and conversation is welcome, please be considerate with noise level.

 

*Library and Learning Commons users are expected to be considerate of one another, especially in quiet and group study areas. If you fail to abide by these policies, you will be asked to leave the area or even the building (see also the Disruptive Behavior for the Library Services policy).

 

  • Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is available to all current MCC students, staff, and faculty.
  • ILL users must have MCC Library accounts in good standing.
  • All requests for ILL materials MUST be made through your ILL account.

You can access received PDF articles as well as check on your requests that are currently being processed.

Veterans are fast becoming one of MCC's largest demographic groups. Upon leaving the military, many veterans desire a return to academia as a way to learn new skills or to fine-tune the skills acquired in the service to suit the needs of employers. A two-year school such as MCC is uniquely suited to this purpose, with its combination of classroom courses and hands-on skills training.

As important as the academics, however, is the support available to the veteran and his or her family in career guidance, advising, and identification of both local and national resources to help adjust back into civilian life.

The Veterans' Resource Center is on the 3rd floor of the LeRoy V. Good Library (Building 2) on the Brighton campus. The room number is 2-304. This quiet room is reserved for veterans' use only, but is not locked.

In the Veterans' Resource Center, you will find:

  • a table, 2 desks, and chairs
  • 2 laptops
  • a whiteboard and markers
  • a bulletin board with lots of information for veterans
  • books on veterans' issues
  • pamphlets on veterans' issues
