This guide is intended as a starting point for MCC students researching coronavirus and the current COVID-19 pandemic for a class or out of personal interest. There are a lot of rumors, misinformation, and scams floating around out there, as well as some xenophobia and racism. What can you do? Counter misinformation and xenophobia with facts. Here are some resources:
Falsehoods and misinformation have been circulating in the media since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. For example, researchers from Cornell University analyzed 38 million articles published around the world from January through May 2020 and found that 1.1 million of them contained misinformation.
