Linking to a Kanopy Video

NOTE:

The Kanopy database has been configured to automatically have the MCC Library EZproxy prefix https://ezproxy.monroecc.edu/login?url= applied on the back end of the Kanopy system when users click on a video link to authenticate from off campus using their MCC email username and password.

  1.  Perform a search in the database to find a film that you are interested in.
     
  2. Click Share. Copy the video Link provided in the box.

  1. To add this link to Brightspace course first select the Content link in the course navigation bar, then select the Learning Module where you would like to add the link.

  1. A window will pop-up on the screen. Enter the title of the item in the Title field. Then paste the Kanopy video link into the URL field and click Create to save.

  1. Once the link is created click Open in New Window to view the video. Select the Content link in the top navigation bar to return to the Learning Module.

  1. Check the link from a computer on and off-campus to make sure it works from outside the MCC campus network.
     
  2. When accessing the video link from off-campus you will be prompted to first sign-in to the MCC Network Account using your MCC e-mail username and password, then a pop-up window will appear asking you to connect to Kanopy to verify the MCC Kanopy account. Once this process is complete the video will load on the screen.

Embedding a Kanopy Video

NOTE:

The Kanopy database has been configured to automatically have the MCC Library EZproxy prefix applied on the back end of the Kanopy system when users click on the embedded video play arrow to authenticate from off campus using their MCC email username and password.

  1. For the video you are interested in click Share then Embed this Video. Copy the link provided in the box.

  1. Sign into Brightspace and select the Content link in the course navigation bar, then select the Learning Module where you would like to embed the video.

  1. From the Upload/Create menu choose Video or Audio. The Add Video or Audio editor window will open. Paste the Kanopy embed code into the Web Video or Audio box.. Add the title of the video in the Title field and click Save.

  1. A window will pop-up for with the message "We blocked this for you". Click the Allow button to trust this URL.

  1. The video will appear on the screen. Test it to see if it plays.

How an embedded Kanopy video appears in Brightspace
 

  1. Click the Student Preview from both on and off campus  to see it how the embedded video appears in Brightspace. When accessing the embedded video from off-campus you will be prompted to first sign-in into your MCC Network Account with your MCC e-mail username and password, then a pop-up window will appear asking you to connect to Kanopy to verify the MCC Kanopy account. Once this process is complete the embedded video will load on the screen.
