Making Persistent Links to Articles iand eBooks in EBSCOhost Databases

NOTE:

  • All EBSCOhost databases the library subscribes to have been configured to automatically have the MCC Library EZproxy prefix https://ezproxy.monroecc.edu/login?url= added to the "Create link" URL,  so you do not need to manually add it in.
  • The EZproxy prefix is not visible in the "Create link" field in the "Share" window, but it is being applied on the back end of the EBSCO system when users click on it to authenticate from off campus using their MCC Network Account email username and password.

The following directions provide information on where to find the "Create link" feature in EBSCOhost database records.

  1. Perform a search in the database.

  2. Find an article of interest in the search results list then go to the Tools menu and click the Share link..

  1. A new window will open. Click Create link to see the persistent link to the article or eBook in the EBSCOhost database.

In this example the persistent link is:
https://research.ebsco.com/linkprocessor/plink?id=8ac3a532-0d0b-3644-b241-507bb10ccb73

  1. As mentioned above, the EZproxy prefix https://ezproxy.monroecc.edu/login?url= is automatically applied to the EBSCOhost link. The persistent link in the "Create Link" field can be copied as is into Brightspace as a web link in a Brightspace Learning Module, or as a text link inside/on a Brightspace page.

  2. Check the finished link from a computer off campus to make sure it works from outside the MCC campus network.
