Persistent Links: Adding Links to Library Materials in Brightspace

Add as a Web Link

How to create a web link to an item in a library database so it appears in a Brightspace Learning Module

  1. Sign-in to your Brightspace course. First select the Content link in the course navigation bar. Then select the Learning Module where you would like to add the link. 

  1. From the Upload/Create menu choose Create a Link.

  1.  A window will pop-up on the screen. Enter the title of the article in the Title field. Then copy the proxied persistent link created following the instructions for the database as provided on the Where to Find the Persistent Link pages. Then click Create to save.

  1. Once the link is created add a description if you like.

  1. Click Open in New Window to test the link. In this example, the Brightspace link connects to the article record in the library JSTOR database. Students will need to click the Download button in order to see the PDF copy of the article.

  1.  Click the Content link in the top navigation bar to return to the Learning Module.

 

  1. Check your Brightspace course to see how the link appears in both the Instructor view and Student Preview and test functionality.
